It’s windy and cool- many times it’s frustrating to try to photograph in wind- but once in a while, it’s a bonus.  The wind helps give me a reminder of my connection to the natural world.  With my hectic life lately, this reminder is most welcome!!

We’re off into the mountains for the next week- hopefully I will return refreshed and with some new images!

Hello,

I will keep posting items when I can, but we now have dial up internet, thanks to our move to the South End of Salt Spring Island!  We are on a beautiful farm- lots of photo opportunities, with farm  animals- like llamas and pigs, as well as Ruckle Park.  With the slow internet, I spend less time online- but will tryot okeep you updated about my thoughts and ideas.

I’m doing a house-sit on Salt Spring Island for the month.  My hope is to complete a book proposal by the end of February.  However, this is among about 5 other major projects sandwiched around a Winnipeg wedding (my brother’s) next weekend.  Why do I continually pile up more goals than is humanly possible to achieve in the timeline that I alot?  However, since arriving here on Salt Spring, I have felt very connected to the landscape, and feel energized by our South facing home which bathes me in the warm sun.  Many walks have led me by arbutus and Garry Oak trees, inspiring me to get the old camera out and play.  What is relevant to me right now is not the goals I have set out for myself, but the feeling of the air, and the larger than memory spiritual connection I have with the outside, the natural world here, and now, on Salt Spring Island 

Last night we attended the opening performance of Turn of the Screw at the Belfry Theatre, in Victoria, BC.  The performance set used 4 of my images which were printed onto projection screens, then revealed with spooky light.
It was an all around fun experience, to see my images as a major part of a theatrical performance.
If you happen to be in Victoria, between now and February 9, go see the show, it’s really well worth it!
It is a rather creepy, ghostly tale, though, with exquisite acting.

Today I can’t seem to warm up. We do have a cozy house with a woodstove here on Pender, but the fire has gone out. Being chilly like this reminds me about times when I have been in the mountains on long trips, soaked to the bone, unable to get warm. But, I have mixed feelings about being this way. In a weird way, this chill takes me to a sense of presence. I can almost smell the snow, the dampness, and the wind

I’ve been spending far too much time on the computer these days-far too much indeed, signing up for facebook, myspace, flickr, in order to finish off my website and provide links. This cyber time, though somewhat exciting, leaves me ever craving the wild. Areas like the Upper Elaho come to mind, with its ancient trees and mountain peaks dominating the sky.

Hello all! The long haul of completing the new website is nearly over. It’s been a smooth ride to get to this point, thanks to Terry Sunderland’s design, and Atef Abdelkefi’s stellar programming.

This will be the place to look for interesting tidbits of information about my photo wanderings, and my activisim. You can also ask questions about techniques, or anything that’s on your mind.
